Bring back flora and fauna
As the land burns from wild bushfires and soil loses strength, plants
and animals are destroyed. Our bountiful ecosystem is turning to ash
and needs the right fire to heal our country.
Tree planting by country
Diverse bioregions are critical to reduce greenhouse gas emissions,
encourage clear rain, mitigate fire risk, repair soil quality and
reduce erosion. We must return what has been lost.
Fire proof your property
Unchecked biomass is a highly flammable fuel load responsible for wild
bushfires. It’s a massive threat to communities, property and lives.
Cultural ‘cold burning’ is our protection.

WhoWeWork With
FIRE LORE works closely with a diverse group of partners, clients and stakeholders to develop and implement programs that meet their specific objectives. The cumulative effect of this collaboration compounds our life-saving impact and we encourage you to become part of this wider team of healers and change makers.
Cultural burning for farmers, landholders property management and fire security
WHY CHOOSE CULTURAL BURNING?
Cultural burning draws from Indigenous knowledge to reduce biomass and dead vegetation that can build up over time – reducing the potential of uncontrolled bushfires.
Clears weeds and invasive flora, pests and diseases and reduces plats' growth that impacts farm animal health.
Improve water quality, encourage rainfall, water penetration and overall property hydration
Increase soil carbon levels and reduce erosion
Support the eradication of parasites and ticks
Preserve valuable land asset
From May to October every year, farmers and landholders in Australia are permitted to burn lands. Though, from our feedback, many people fear using fire as they lack the training or experience.
Our team wants to build confidence in using fire as a tool. We assist in helping develop people's understanding of fire, grasses, trees and seasonal timings in identifying where, when and how to use fire correctly to ensure every burn is as safe as possible and will provide the best outcomes for the participant/s and their property.

Tribal topography and country border mapping
What is fit- for- purpose Being 'fit for purpose' means that a product or service must meet a particular need or goal. Government agencies have this requirement before allowing certain projects to proceed. Our goal is to assist Indigenous communities in developing culturally sound enterprises that not only meet but exceed the expectations required to engage with funding bodies.. enabling MOBS to return to Country.
HOW WE WORK WITH NATIVE TITLE
Communicate
Seek appropriate endorsement and formalities from Native Title Elders
Collaborate
Collaborate with local Native Title Organisation to participate in land management
Modelling
Establish fit-for-purpose modelling to allow native titles to develop internal programmes
Negotiate
Engage with the government regarding cultural burn on behalf of the Native Title
Setup
Support Native Title to set up a cultural Burning. Including setup, certification, insurance.
Maintaining
Annual maintenance and reviews to keep your land healthy and bushfire risk-free.
Cultural services for government bodies, not-for-profit's, environmental & community groups
WHAT WE DO
We engage with Native Title owners to provide a culturally appropriate service.
We offer workshops to educate on fire, smoke, seasons and the environment.
All our services and fire practitioners are fully trained, insured and qualified in emergency response & First Aid
We survey land for risk assessment, pest management, develop cultural reports and identify future consideration on Country
Develop land management plans and strategies to prevent hazards and protect assets for the long term future.
Conduct urban or speciality burns that are considered a higher risk.
Hazard Reduction vs Cultural Burn Back burning and Hazard reduction are currently the most widely used techniques employed by farmers and Government agencies (incl RFS, NPWS and Forestry) in Australia to control wildfires by reducing the amount of fuel available to the fire. The objective of these practices to reduce, slow down or stop the spread of a wildfire. However, these practices often ignore the control measures that are used in cultural burning, leading to high-intensity fires that burn the tree canopy, scorch the soil and destroy ecosystems. This can actually increase fuel loads over time, creating more devastating wildfires.
In contrast, cultural burning is typically managed to scale and is carefully planned and conducted, using age-old methods harnessed by Indigenous peoples used to manage and protect the land, promote biodiversity and maintain cultural practices and traditions. A lack of understanding and implementation of Indigenous knowledge on the use of fire has exacerbated the wildfires we are currently seeing across the planet.

BENEFITS OF TEACHING CULTURAL BURNING IN SCHOOLS
Teaching cultural burning in schools promotes cultural understanding and respect. It allows students to gain a deeper understanding of the ways in which cultural knowledge can play a major role in the caring for our environment.
Encourage students to care for the environment
Build a stronger connection between students and their country
Educate students about Indigenous practices and culture
Foster a generation of Australians who can help repair Australia’s ecosystems
Give students the tools they need to recognise bushfire risks+
build confidence in fire, and how necessary it is to keep our enviromnet healthy
WHAT WE TEACH IN PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS
In our one-to-two-hour interactive sessions, including presentations, Q&A and activities, we deliver age-appropriate presentations that discuss:
Exsperience
Experienced cultural practitioners guide participants through a mix of presentations
Environment
How fire, smoke, seasons and the land type all interact to create ecosystems
Understanding
Why the land is in its current state and the
ways we can rehabilitate it
History
We explore the ancestral knowledge passed down form generation to generation
Connection to Country
Build a stronger connection between students and their Country
Bushfires
Offer lessons and the tools to enable everyone to recognise bushfire risks
We acknowledge all Elders past, present and emerging. We acknowledge the stories, traditions and living cultures of all First Nations Peoples on this land we walk and commit to building a better, brighter future together.
